USE AND FLUIDITY OF TERRITORY: DYNAMICS OF FAIRS IN THE PERIOD OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

The notion of fair, it belongs to the human vocabulary since antiquity, gains new meanings in the current historical period of technologies and globalization. In this sense, we seek to analyze geographically the uses of the territory supported by the dynamics that permeate and define the lower circuit of the urban economy, having as a point of observation the circuits of the fairs that occur weekly in the northern region of Ceará, seen from the district of Aprazível in the city of Sobral. This fair, the object of this research, is characterized by the predominance of the supply of industrialized products and clothing, given that this type of trade has been expanding into the interior of the Northeast, bringing socio-spatial impacts resulting from its expansion of new scenarios of this type of the market. For Santos (2004), the definition of each circuit is defined by a set of activities carried out in a certain context, linking the population to this, essentially by activity and consumption, and it can be seen that the fundamental difference is due to technology and organization. It seeks to understand how this circuit is characterized today and how it relates to the variables of the current period using the territory of these places as shelter.
