Abstract

This article presents the implementation of the territory and knowledge project, in the Geography discipline, in the 8th and 9th grade classes of Elementary School II, at EMEF de Batoque, in the Praia do Batoque Extractive Reserve, municipality of Aquiraz, Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza (RMF). The project was carried out in the second half of 2022 with the aim of valuing the history of the community where the school is located and celebrating the anniversary of the creation of the Batoque Extractive Reserve. Teaching Geography can contribute to the territory and vice versa through the students and the proposed interactions. The main methodological procedures took place in the execution of the project in 2022, including interactions with the students, field classes, and photographic records. Later, in the bibliographic survey, we point out the dialogue with the authors and socialization of the results through writing. Therefore, teaching Geography at EMEF de Batoque through the teaching possibilities can strengthen the relationship with the territory and point out ways for the emergence of new leaders in the struggle and articulation of the Batoque RESEX. Currently, the school has a strong relationship with the RESEX by hosting events of the school itself, agencies and institutions, assuming a central role in political articulation in the community.
