Abstract

The article is part of a broader research project that aims to present and understand the functioning of a group of agroecological family farmers who cultivate and commercialize food in the Greater Florianópolis region and their organization within a territorial dynamic that spans and integrates multiple localities and actors. The interaction of these localities within a network and the specific characteristics of the group were analyzed through an in-depth single-case study, based on a documentary analysis of the group's management plans, which are used to obtain organic certification. The modes of production and consumption are discussed through the concepts of territory and networked territory, with a focus on territorial dynamics. The study demonstrates that valuing local and agroecological production and consumption experiences can generate economic benefits for both producers and consumers; ensure the recognition of family farmers' work by securing economic returns through fair prices and more stable markets; guarantee transparency regarding product origins through participatory certification; and thus contribute to territorial socioeconomic development. In an effort to highlight the challenges faced by producers, the study concludes that the territorial dynamics of agroecology in this group depend on a combination of factors, including increased public investment in agroecological practices, payment for environmental services provided, facilitation of access to and processes of certification, as well as consumer awareness and engagement.
