Regional development: socio-economic transformations in the immediate geographical region of Araguatins – TO

Abstract

This dissertation analyzed the regional development and socioeconomic transformations in the immediate region of Araguatins - TO. The objective of this work was to verify the socioeconomic transformations that occurred in the immediate region of Araguatins - TO between 2010 and 2020, using locational indicators, geographical association coefficient and employment multiplier, in addition to characterize the port logistics of the Port of Praia Norte to determine the logistics dynamics and development patterns of the municipalities that make up the immediate region. The research has an approach of qualitative and quantitative nature, as to its classification is exploratory and descriptive, in general. The results show that the Port of Praia Norte has a strategic geographical location and a good logistic infrastructure, which favor port activity and economic development. The regional dynamics lean towards the public sector, commerce and services, which have the greatest impact on job generation, the primary sector between the years 2010 to 2020 had a significant increase. The study suggests that diversification of economic sectors is necessary for better employment performance, highlighting the dependence on the public sector in job generation in the region.
