This paper investigates the epistemology of the concept of region in geography, examining its development throughout the phases of geographical thought and its consolidation as a key concept. It also addresses the relevance of the region in the post-modern era, raising the problem of understanding how the region has contributed to the evolution of geographical science, seeking to discuss how regional analysis has enabled the region to understand the dynamics evidenced in space. Respectively, the general objective complements this perception by understanding the importance of the concept of region, under the different approaches and conceptual definitions throughout the phases of geographical thought. The methodology used was of a basic, descriptive and qualitative nature, focusing on bibliographical research, highlighting the multiple approaches to the region throughout history. Thus, the main discussion stems from the evidence of the multiple approaches to the region, presented in the course of geographical thought in a dynamic way, following the transformations in each historical period, also noting the relevance of relating theoretical aspects to their practical application today. As a result, it can be seen that although the region has not been the protagonist of geographical studies for some time, it has contributed significantly to its evolutionary process, as it is renewed at every turn, further deepening geographical analysis.
