Physical Geography emerged under the influence of European naturalists such as Kant and Humboldt, with contributions from Ritter and Vidal de La Blache. The teaching of physical-natural themes in basic education has been losing ground, especially in textbooks, and with the approval of the New High School, these contents have been left in the background. The aim of this study is to analyse how physical-natural themes are being approached in high school geography teaching. The methodological procedures used were: a literature review, an analysis of high school textbooks, on-site observations in the school environment and, finally, an analysis of the latest editions of ENEM. As a result, it was possible to see that with the New High School, physical-natural content was left aside, and was not found in the textbooks analysed. In the ENEM, however, it can be seen that questions dealing with physical geography content still appear frequently. The study of physical-natural themes should be considered relevant and knowledge of these themes contributes to the student's education as a citizen, a skilful reader of the world with a full development of spatial thinking.
