Abstract

Understanding the challenges of gender equality in the management of water resources has been the target of studies that consider quantitative surveys about female representation in different deliberative entities. In this context, the objective of this research was to evaluate female representation in the State Water Resources Council (CONERH) and in the Watersheds Committees (CBH) of the State of Ceará, in addition to producing a reflective synthesis about guiding and planning documents related to water management. It was observed that there is a predominance of male representation in both CONERH and CBH, where the female average, considering all watersheds, does not exceed 30%. Regarding the plans and guiding documents evaluated, ten of the twelve CBH did not present specific plans for discussing and carrying out activities to promote equity in water and gender relations in decision-making processes. The present work contributed to a qualitative and quantitative survey that can support the planning of such actions to equalize female participation in the management of water resources.
