Around the urban lakes of the large cities, there are many forms of urbanization. The various Lakeside make an important ensemble of potential public spaces. In this way, the present work has the objective of making a characterization of the spatial-temporal of urban occupation in the last 50 years around the hydric body (Jacarey Lake) in the city of Fortaleza (CE) from the processing of aerial images. It was perceived that the lakeside passed through an intensive alteration due to residential occupation. The increase of the population's density has created the incorporation and occupation of the lake's flatlands. The high cost houses, and the gastronomic pole located around it, has made the lake a highly visited place by the population of the city. Therefore, it became an extremely desired location, mainly for its public space, receiving more attention by the city's government on the resources direction of the urban structure maintenance.
