Abstract

This writing aims to analyze, in a very succinct and austere way, the trajectory in which the idea of nature (and its relationship with the human being) was discussed by important references, both in Philosophy and Science, highlighting the elements that are of interest to the our discipline, Geography. Such a quest to understand the idea of nature, through the temporal-epistemological path of Western knowledge, coincides, to a certain extent, with the concerns of Carlos Augusto Angel-Maya (1932-2010), a Latin American thinker, academic, scientist, poet, environmentalist and teacher. Such an epistemic and genealogical analysis, with the Colombian philosopher as interlocutor, will serve as our initial reflective effort on how Geography thought, thinks and can think about the current environmental crisis in our time. The depth on this subject will be a later search in future publications.
