Morphodynamics and susceptibility to water erosion in the Municipality of Cacimba de Dentro, Semiarid Paraibano

Abstract

The present work seeks to identify susceptibility to water erosion in the semi-arid region of Paraíba, more specifically in the municipality of Cacimba de Dentro, analyzing natural conditioning factors such as relief, soil, vegetation, climate and geology, and the possibility of accelerated erosion from human activities. established in the middle. The work was developed in three stages: bibliographic review, cartographic production and field work, through which a reading of the landscape dynamics was made. Finally, the different points analyzed were tabulated and understood. For susceptibility mapping, the map algebra technique was used. Thus, twelve initial points in the area were analyzed, in some erosion processes such as ravines and gullies were found at different stages of development. After the integrated analysis of the elements that condition erosion, it was determined that natural factors exert a great influence on the formation of erosion processes. In places where no erosion features were found, human interference in the environment, through the removal of vegetation and cuts in the relief, can contribute to breaking the dynamic balance of the landscape and causing erosion in the environment.
