Abstract

This article analyzes the new uses of/in the space of the Praça do Trabalhador in the city of Teresina - PI, as a result of the arrival of several commercial establishments attracted by the installation of a Contact Center company. This article aims to analyze how commercial practices have changed the use of the space in the Praça do Trabalhador by the residents of the Dirceu Arcoverde neighborhood, highlighting how trade has contributed to changing the local dynamics in terms of movement of people, products and capital. Taking a quantitative-qualitative approach, this research will use questionnaires and interviews to achieve its objectives. It was concluded that with the presence and expansion of commercial activities inside the study area, there was a change in the use of this space, from new relations between community and square, portrayed by the distancing of the neighborhood residents in relation to the Worker's Square through the taking of its space by commercial establishments and the disappearance of urban equipment that once served as leisure for the local population.
