Abstract

Geodiversity encompasses the set of abiotic elements that make up planet Earth, corresponding to the variety of geological, hydrological, geomorphological and soil aspects, endowed with values, composing the heritage of geodiversity with identity and strong contributions to the understanding of terrestrial dynamics and the development of local populations. This research aimed to carry out an inventory, geomorphological characterization and quantification of the geoheritage in the municipality of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, Piauí. The study was carried out from the methodology used and was organized from the following steps: (i) Survey and analysis of the theoretical framework; (ii) Office work and (iii) Field work with application of inventory sheets based on Araújo's methodology (2021) and quantification according to Pereira (2006); iv) Tabulation and characterization of places of relevant interest and quantitative assessment of geomorphosites and geodiversity sites. 04 sites of relevant geodiversity interest (LRIG) were inventoried, namely: LR01- Complexo Cânions do Rio Longá; LR02- Complexo do Riacho Vertentes; LR03- Central Reservoir and LR04- Lagoa da Panela. The referred inventoried places were described and analyzed considering their geomorphological character and evaluated considering their typologies, relevant contents, values, current uses, potential uses, and main threats. It is noteworthy that the results indicate the need for actions aimed at the proper management of the inventoried geoheritage of great relevance for the territory of Piauí.
