Conflicts in the use and coverage of land in the permanent preservation areas of the Anhumas river basin, Ribeirão Claro/PR

Abstract

The process of socio-spatial formation of the Brazilian territory prioritized the suppression of native vegetation for the development of human activities. This change in land use and coverage, which occurred over successive periods, resulted in environmental impacts, such as: erosion, silting and flooding, in addition to compromising the quality and quantity of surface water. Given the scenario presented, the maintenance and repair of riparian forests are of fundamental importance for ecosystems and society. This work aims to analyze the uses and land cover in the permanent preservation areas of the Anhumas river basin in the city of Ribeirão Claro/PR, in 2020, and compare them with the current legislation. To make it viable, a database and thematic maps of land use and land cover were created using remote sensing products and geoprocessing techniques. The results obtained show that the Anhumas river basin is very altered, especially with regard to APPs, where pasture predominates at the expense of forest cover, a fact that contributes to the accumulation of sediments in river beds and thalweg.
