The manganese route: proposal for a geotourism itinerary in Serra do Navio (AP), brazilian amazonian region

Abstract

The Manganês Route corresponds to a proposal for a geotourism itinerary designed for the municipality of Serra do Navio, located in the state of Amapá. This municipality has its history strongly linked to the manganese mining that lasted four decades, creating the company town “Vila de Serra do Navio” which today corresponds to the seat of that municipality. Through the itinerary, it is intended to explore the geotouristic potential of the surroundings of the municipal seat of Serra do Navio, connecting points that present geodiversity in dialogue with the history of mining in the municipality and observing the values of geodiversity and the geosystemic services present in each stop. For the elaboration of the proposal, an evaluation and selection of the most relevant points in terms of geodiversity were carried out and then an analysis of the geodiversity values and the geosystemic services of each stop on the route was carried out. Finally, the itinerary has six stops that contain elements of geodiversity in situ and ex situ, where five values of geodiversity and five geosystemic services were identified.
