Abstract

This article reflects the process of land regularization of the Assentamento do Glória in the city of Uberlândia.  Documentary research, fieldwork and informal interviews with key actors were the methodological resources used. The land tenure regularization process is time consuming, and these three years of implementation were not enough to complete the entire process. This is a short period to carry out an assessment of the actions, considering that most of them are still in the implementation process, while others have not even been implemented. The high default of residents in the payment of installments may compromise the execution of several works in the area, such as the construction of water supply and sewage systems, rain drainage and paving systems. This the only source of funds expected to implement these actions. It was also found that residents were selling houses, which may be associated with the difficulties of honoring the monthly payment commitments or because of the significant process of appreciation of the area giving rise to speculative processes. The regularization process of the Assentamento do Glória repeats the same problems found in academic research on the topic in other locations.
