Abstract

The differentiations between the urban spaces of the territories indicate that they are active products of capital itself. The development of this document is associated with the understanding that capitalist uneven and combined development generates empirical marks in the territories. Its objective is to analyze how formal employment data, extracted from RAIS and CAGED records, between 2020 and 2023, reflect the dynamics of uneven and combined development in peripheral territories of northeastern Brazil. The research followed an exploratory path, utilizing a quantitative approach and statistical techniques. The data analysis reveals that the territories present distinct dynamics regarding the distribution of jobs in productive activities, the concentration of jobs in specific municipalities, and fluctuations in admissions. These characteristics highlight at least three reflections of uneven and combined development in the studied territories: the concentration of formal jobs in few productive activities; the centralization of most of them in few municipalities; and the selective expansion of formal employment across the territories.
