The modernization of the field and the effects on the Caprisa Settlement located in the municipalities of Assunção do Piauí and São Miguel do Tapuio in the state of Piauí

ABSTRACT

This article, an excerpt from the master's thesis of the author who writes to you, sought to present a brief description of the progress of rural modernization in Brazil and in the state of Piauí, based on bibliographical research considering important names in Brazilian agrarian geography such as Bernardo Mançano Fernandes, Aldiva Sales Diniz, and Denise Elias, among others. In addition to field research, through semi-structured interviews, document analysis, observations, and photographs, the identification of the proportions under which the settlement is being affected by this modernization was carried out, hoping that there will be a greater understanding of how modernization of the countryside affects the lives of settled farmers and in what aspects. To raise the visibility of the ongoing problems in the settlements and the lives of the settlers, it was concluded that, even in more remote locations and in an imperceptible way, modernization is inserting itself in rural areas, thus causing social, economic, and cultural changes.
