Comparative analysis of lineaments extracted Based on remote sensing data from the Northwest region of Ceará

Abstract

The lines analyzed in this work refer to an area located in the Northwest region of the Ceará State, which covers part of the municipalities of Cariré, Pacujá, Graça and Reriutaba. The focus of this work is the identification of negative structural lineaments from remote sensing products. The goal is to promote a comparative analysis of the lineaments extracted in different remote sensing products. The extraction of lineaments consisted of identifying lineaments related to brittle tectonics, based on the drainage network, using products derived from digital elevation models and different optical images, processed at different times: SRTM (pre-processed in the Topodata Project) with images from Landsat 7 ETM+, in 2014, and Copernicus DEM, with images from the WPM camera on the CBERS 04 satellite, in 2023. For the same area, 214 and 241 lineaments were extracted in the years 2014 and 2023, respectively, with different frequency distributions of azimuthal directions evidenced through rosette diagrams. The quantitative increase in extracted lineaments and the differences in the directions indicated by the rosette diagram are related to the better quality of remote sensing products used to identify lineaments in 2023.
