Abstract

This article presents a space-time analysis related to the area of soybean planted in the municipality of Regeneração-PI in the period from 2009 to 2021. The investigation was based on the method of Evolutionary Analysis of the Landscape, through the realization of bibliographic deepening and production of maps. We used the cartographic data of the MapBiomas Collection 7 Project, referring to the Use and Cover of soil obtained from the Google Earth Engine platform. For the production of maps and reclassification of soil use and cover layers (MapBiomas) the Software QGIS 3.10.7 was used. The data used on soybean production were obtained from the Produção Agrícola Municipal – PAM/SIDRA/IBGE (2021). There was a considerable expansion of soybean planting in the municipality of Regeneração-PI between 2009 and 20021. The spatial-temporal analysis showed a significant change in the soil cover of the Municipality of Regeneração-PI, mainly through the increase of the soybean area planted in the municipality that evolved from 111 hectares in 2009 to 8,823 hectares in 2021 and the decrease in forest areas from 109,099 hectares in 2009 to 97,149 hectares in 2021.
