The bank network in the immediate region of Currais Novos (RN)

Abstract

In Brazil, the bank services spatialization process all over the territory is evident, with the intent, in general, of capital gain obtention in every place. For this, different expansion strategies of the bank network are implemented. In Rio Grande do Norte state, there was an increase and deconcentration of banking branches until 2014, however, from 2015, another ways of complexification of the urban network has been brought up, as the viabilization of service stations and correspondent banks in cities which the socioeconomic dynamics and spatial interactions does not justifies the implementation e maintenance of a bank branch. In the 2016 and 2017 years, innumerable robberies were made against bank branches and stations in Rio Grande do Norte, what caused the reorganization of the bank system on the state territory, with the decrease of the quantitative of bank branches, the transformation of some of these into bank service stations and the substantial expanse of correspondent banks. The bank network at the immediate region of Currais Novos is analyzed in this work, with emphasis on the bank spatialization in the region, namely: Banco do Brasil, Banco Bradesco, Banco do Nordeste do Brasil e Caixa Econômica Federal. The organization process of this network in Brazil, in Rio Grande do Norte state and the region concerned is comprehended by the bank branches implemented on the space and the resulting flows. As a final consideration, its stated to be urgent the adoption of politics that make possible a higher density of the bank network in the Currais Novos region, through the deconcentration – of the main city in the region – of the most complex bank branches and the expansion of the service chart of the rest of the branches.
