Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic, despite reaching different places in space, is a phenomenon that has the city as the main locus of dispersion, due to the large urban population concentration and the increasingly fluid flows of people, goods and information between cities, because of the advancement of the technical-scientific-informational period. In this sense, the article seeks to address the geographical spread of Covid-19 and the use of the territory by health services in the state of Ceará, Brazil, in the light of the geographic reading of the urban network. To this end, the literature review produced on the themes of the urban network, spatial interactions and use of the territory by health services were used as methodology. Data on health infrastructure were also collected from the DATASUS database and data on cases and deaths by Covid-19 available at INTEGRASUS. Bearing in mind that the pandemic situation we are experiencing materializes in space, for Geography, the reticular structure of spreading the disease and the search for health services for its treatment is striking. This scenario is supported by the urban network apprehended at the most diverse scales, in which the connections that make the virus reach different places in the globalized world are evidenced, where not only people, goods and information circulate faster and faster, but also tragedies and calamities.
