Trata-se de uma resenha crítica, que visa compreender o caráter da relação capital/Bem-Estar Social (BES), ou seja, se contraditório ou não. Trata-se de uma resenha crítica, baseada em textos de Christopher Pierson (Beyond the <em>Welfare State</em>?, a partir de resumo preparado por Potyara A. P. Pereira), Ian Gough (Economia Política do Estado de Bem-Estar) e José Martinez de Pisón (O Estado Social e os Direitos Sociais),  que visa compreender qual o verdadeiro caráter da relação capital/Bem-Estar Social (BES), ou seja, se contraditório ou de outra ordem. Estes textos, todavia, não se constituem na única fonte de informações a consubstanciar a análise pretendida, mas, os elementos protagonistas nesse sentido. Ao final espera-se afirmar algo acerca das conseqüências disso para as sociedades dos países centrais e periféricos, especialmente a América Latina.</p><p>AMBIGUITIES OF STATE SOCIAL IN CAPITALISM: A CRITICAL REVIEW</p> <p>Abstract</p><p>This article makes an analysis on the issue of the ambiguity of the welfare state in the context of capitalism, a new stage of the world economy. This is a critical review, which aims to understand the character of the capital / Welfare (BES), ie whether or not contradictory. This is a critical review based on texts by Christopher Pierson (Beyond the Welfare State?, From summary prepared by Potyara AP Pereira), Ian Gough (Political Economy of the Welfare State) and Jose Martinez of Pisón (the Welfare State and Social Rights), which aims to understand what the true character of the capital / Welfare (BES), if contradictory or otherwise. These texts, however, are not the only source of information to substantiate the analysis you want, but the protagonists elements accordingly. At the end it is expected to say something about the consequences of this for the societies of central and peripheral countries, especially Latin America.</p> <p><strong>Keywords</strong>: <em>Welfare State.
