There was applied an interpretative method that aims to look for the epistemological foundation; about techniques that note the materialized evidences in the geographical space and about bibliographical and cartographical documentation. The results showed up the processes that acted in the Pleistocene terminal (13.000 to 18.000 years B.P.) and that were responsible for the flowery revetment installation in São Paulo State territory, when the wetness recovering. From the inquiry results it’s ended that the vegetable picture found in the century XVI was consequent to the recovering of the optimum climatico making possible the expansion of Sao Paulo State’s tropical forests; the bigger coherence physiographics sector, biological and ecological of Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) it’s in the Serra do Mar (Mountain Sea’s range); the Pleistocene terminal’s refuges, with the forest formation retraction and his fragmentation in the marshes and along the rivers, they can be evoked as in the new bi-optics forms; open the vegetable formations expansion, they explain the prevalent scrublands stains; the sea islands constitute keys for the resistasy understanding and for the geo-ecologic instability; the techniques showed off the great validity for the distributive and retrospective study; other vegetable formations (fields, araucarias, etc.) can be explained as resulting from his advancements of the south of the country. Finally, it’s admitted that the Forest Refuges Theory already assimilated sufficient maturity to assert itself like one of the applicable models in areas of natural reserves.

Key words: Biogeography.
